Friday Sport Stop-motion

Mrs Booth was using the fantastic and simple stop-motion app for iPad called iMotion to film the Friday afternoon sport session. We will be using this app to create stop-motion films in class. What students will need to realise is that though Mrs Booth set the timer on 1 image per second when you create a stop-motion film you change the speed to suit i.e. speed it up or slow it down. In this example 135 images were taken and then the frames per second was set at 8. The maths is: 135 divided by 8 = 16.9 seconds. The video is actually 14 seconds long so perhaps YouTube condenses it slightly. So in order to make a film that is 1 minute in length at 8 frames per second you would need to take around 480 photos: 60 seconds in 1 minute. The next time you watch Wallace and Grommit just think how long it took the makers to make one episode!

This is a link to the Coffs HarbourPS blog and a post about claymation. It also has a video showing the worlds largest stop-motion animation and how they made it using a mobile phone. It is amazing =) CHPS Stop-motion post
