Newspaper Domes

Last week in keeping with our built environments theme we researched, investigated and made domes.  The design brief was to make a dome out of newspaper that was big enough to fit in.

We made three mixed aged groups and started off  planning and drawing our designs.  (We remembered that triangles are a strong and stable shape from our paper bridges.)  Ipads were used to record our work.

Next we set to work rolling up newspaper to make the poles and then the bases were made.  The poles were stuck together using masking tape.  (Mrs Lemmes decided to put the staplers away after she stapled her finger!)

The structures began to grow and take shape.  Each one different!

Each group made a fantastic and original dome and everyone was pleased with their efforts.
